ANGROVE home of THREE HOMOZYGOUS Youngsters by Ricco. see news Coloured contacts.and Angrove Spotted Dick Ricco Homozygous Tobiano son.and now Daddy to a very rare Splashed white son.
and 1 Homozygous foal for a visitor mare.
News 2010 June 4th.
2 of Riccos progeny succesfully placed 7th at Bramham in the Event horse breeding classes ,2009 Trifel a skewbald gelding and 2010 Beltby Isobella a bay filly.
Very Important for mare owners that we give you Honest fertility rates from Natural service
The average mare pregnancy rate is 2.24 cycles in order to become in foal. cycle means season.
We are very pleased with our results and have excellent reproductive efficiency and high fertility Stallion which saves you money and time.
Here what one stud owner and customer of Angrove stud has to say about Ricco and Angrove Stud.
I am the very proud breeder of Croftys Roseberry Topping (Topper), the first chestnut and white foal sired by Ricco, out of Croftys Wappy Spring, born 5th May 2009.
Heather and Alistair at Angrove stud are lovely people and treat our horses with the best of care and attention we could have asked for.
Ricco is a superb stallion with movement and manners to burn, both of these qualities have passed on to his lovely son.
Another of our mares Croftys Malibabu has just been scanned in foal to Ricco for a baby this year, we are thrilled to bits.
Both of our mares were in foal with just one visit to Ricco, which saves money and time!
I would not hesitate in recommending Ricco as a sire or Heather and Alistair as horse sitters, the service at Angrove Stud is excellent.
Thank you so much, we love baby Topper to bits and we are sure he will be an eye turner!
From Judi + Jim, at `Croftys`
Our Resuts
3 mares visitors mares scanned in foal so far from 1 cycle by July 2010
From 28 mares at stud in 2008.
on the mares first cycle we achieved 16 pregnancies
we then achieved 6 more mare pregnancies on the second cycle. total 22 mares in foal.
of the 6 mares that came back all 6 conceived in 2009.
We dont believe in % as they can be confusing & not true.
Here is an Example; take 2 stallions with a 85% fertility rate.
what this does not tell you is how many cycles in took to get mares in foal.
Stallion 1= 85% fertility on 2 cycles 2 seasons. 8 weeks aprox at stud.
Stallion 2 =85% fertility on 4 cycles 14 weeks at Stud same result but the costs to mare owners are significantly different. keep fees and vets bills.

Ricco a very Classy horse!

Why follow the crowd! No warmblood in this English Gentleman! as a 5 year old Ricco qualified for BN DIS SCOPE, and SSH 5 year old Finals 2004.
Performance & No European bloodlines here just the best TB breeding you can get, the ones the continentals use to create a Warmblood, Captain Maverick, an Influential Jumping sire, as researched by William Micklem, Chef-De- Race Nureyev,& Northern Dancer, and that`s dads side! Top Hat, Flying Bee Mum`s side, related through Zhivago to Tullibards Shakepear RIP 2008 Elite graded internationl Event Horse,
Zhivago also sired Mr Todd the sire of Cornsay Grouse, 316 BE points, Cornsay Grouse ridden by Angus Smales placed 33rd at Burghley hightest placed under 25 rider 2009, 316 BE Pts,
By Tullibards Shakespear 25 BE pts Deceased. sired

Kilfinnie 11 ridden by Paul Tapner 451 BE Pts, 24th place at Badmington 09, and 15th place at Burghley 09,
Tullibards Finngan ridden by Gemma Sayers 17 BE Pts,
Ricco has been successful, in both show jumping and showing. Ricco has an outstanding temperament. He was successful at the British Equestrian Federation/South Essex Insurance BrokersYoung Horse Evaluation Series 2003 judged by amongst other Jennie Loriston Clark most promising Eventer score of 8 and a Show jumping score of 7.43 Gaining BEF Breeding and Performance Diplomas.
Ricco`s Sire was Captain Maverick the same sire as the famous`Sarahs Pride the HOYS 2003` the Puissance winner jumping 6 ft 11 inches in 2003 and winner of the power and speed with Carl Curtis Hoys Classic & the Yorkshire Butter final 2003.
When I found Ricco I had spent months looking for the best TB bloodlines with tobiano to produce the quality and the genes, to breed Tobiano racehorse`s. this is our stud policy and to gain GSB acceptance.
We all value types of mares for different reasons - for warmbloods Ricco can add speed and agility, straightness of action, plus good flat bone and above all temperament and his good looks of course. For mares that are tradional or cobs Ricco produces stunning hunters and pleasure to own horses !
The Foals that we are breeding at Angrove Stud are out of pure TB flat mares, including such names as Dr Fong, Danzig, & Danehill.
All Stock by Ricco and registered GSB mares & NTR Weatherbys brood Mares are eligable to race.
see Riccos 2007/8 breeding results in the 2009 Weatherbys national hunt stallion book.
Being a truly outstanding person Ricco has passed his temperament on to all his offspring, and is prepotency to the Thoroughbred and passes these gene traits on, and these are more visable in the foal, than those of the mares.
Testimonials for Ricco
Heather & Alistair,
I just wanted to say a big thankyou for all your help and advice since I first spoke to you in 2007, I feel you have supported us all the way. I will keep you updated on Bella`s progress and look forward to the pics of the other foals to be born this summer.
I will definately be reccomending Angrove Stud in the future!
Kind Regards
Lisa Button
Ricco has excellent conformation & bone, a fantastic temperament, and incredible elastic, off-the-ground paces with superb balance and extension. He also has a very scopey, careful and powerful jump, and is a quick thinking, intelligent horse. He is well & evenly marked, has a good head, huge presence, and is a tremendous stamp of horse that will breed excellent sports horses.
The filly, Knickerbocker Glory (Cookie) is an extraordinary horse that should make a top-class competition horse that will excel in any sphere. She is very well put together, with a good sloping shoulder, a well-set neck, exquisite head, strong rounded quarters and superb straight limbs. She is well marked, has a very friendly and relaxed temperament, and fantastic paces, with a huge amount of energy, balance and elegance. She has been sold to a lovely family in Livingston to have a career in Showing, Working Hunter Classes, BSJA and Eventing. I feel the service offered by Heather and Lev at Angrove Stud is second to none. They are very professional and accommodating; especially with Chardy who is a ‘difficult’ mare to put it mildly, and with Gem’s foal Bella that was at foot while Gem was at the stud in 2006. I am over the moon with little Cookie, and am planning to send Gem back to the stud in the future to breed another for myself!
Miss Jeanne Simpson
Elvingston Stud.
We have had this wonderful Stallion for 4 years now but our relationship with him just keeps getting better we have the horses of Angrove out during the day, stabled at night, and the Stallions go out in to their own fields next to the mares and foals every day as a family.
We have our visitor mares around Ricco in paddocks where he can talk to them and help them come in to season this settles the most nervous of mares, what we find amazing is this Boy just keeps chatting to these ladies all day seduces them, then covers in hand quietly, he comes in for his supper and leaves mares in season and walks with my husband with out a rope to his gate and then quietly walks in to his stable. he never ceases to amaze us both how gentle and how generous he truly is.
The future.
