HILLVIEWFARM MILLIGAN RID 1994 Bay, 16.3” with 9.75” of bone
A truly outstanding example of Irish Draught. He has the rare combination of bone, substance and exceptional straight movement. He carries both traditional lines through his dam, and Performance lines through his sire. Milligan is by the Irish grade A International show jumper Rakish Paddy (who in turn was by Legaun Prince) out of Monivea Grey Rose (who was by Grey Macha). Grey Macha was out of the lovely mare Ballybane Grace who was a prolific show mare in Ireland being Supreme National Champion on several occasions. Rakish Paddy was Champion RID stallion at the Royal Dublin Show in 2000, and he also had a full brother who was exported to Switzerland as a dressage stallion. He also sired the All Ireland Dressage winner (2006)
Milligan has all the attributes to breed top class competition horses. Milligan’s stock has been National winners of the IDHS (GB) Performance Awards and IDHS (GB) Dressage Awards. His stock inherit his wonderful balance and movement.
Milligan has also sired numerous winners in hand especially at the National breed show. These include Foal Champion, Brood Mare Champion, Hornby Premium Mare Champion, Snowford Breeding Champion, Youngstock Champion and numerous others. He has sired 2 Reserve Supreme overall Champions at the National Irish draught show, one from an SID mare. The last few years has seen a marked increase in mares visiting him specifically to breed show jumpers and eventers, and although still too young to prove themselves they are showing great promise.
Milligan has himself competed affiliated dressage and has 34 BD points from very few outings. His athleticism and balance is admired by all that see him and is just what is required in today`s sport horses, whether it be for dressage or jumping.
The stud prides itself on attention paid to visiting mares, where every effort is made to ensure the safety and well being of mares and foals at reasonable cost. Every effort will be made to accommodate special needs such as individual turnout for show mares etc. Please enquire if you have special requirements.
The stud vet is John Gilliver, who operates either ‘Pay as you go’ or a very reasonable stud package if required. The stud has very good fertility results. In 2007, from 29 mares, 28 were scanned in foal. In 2009 resulted in 21 pregnancies from 21 mares.
Milligan is tested free of CEM and tested/vaccinated against EVA. A.I. is available with fresh, chilled or frozen semen. Unlike most other studs we do not charge for collection.
The Stud is situated in Ormskirk, Lancashire easily accessible being just 4 miles from Junction 3 M58.
